GOING PLACES SAFELY
Students will be able to discover and understand that Internet can be used to visit places around the world and learn new things. They will also discover that visiting places online is similar to visiting places in the real world and we need to stay safe all the time. The rules that apply in real world also applies on the Internet when visiting places.
INTERNET FIELD TRIP
Students will learn the the key vocabulary term WEBSITE. They will be visiting websites from real places. Visiting the San Diego Zoo in California and watching live animal cams of the residents of the zoo. They will watch what the panda, polar bear, ape, and elephants are doing to prepare to get ready for their night nap. It is night time in San Diego and it is day time in Bangkok. They will explore other pages of the website to find interesting facts, pictures and movies about the other animals and the animals they love.
Students will understand the difference between an in-person field trip and an online field trip. But both types of field trips offer different ways for students to learn new things. Students will reflect on their virtual field trip by making a drawing of a place they visited on the internet and what they saw on the internet.
At the end of this lesson, students will learn and must follow the following rules before using the computer and the internet:
